The Second World War changed the fate of the name. With clubs forbidden from using names associated with foreign countries, Sport Club Germânia became Esporte Clube Pinheiros, taking on for good the identity of the neighbourhood around it.
Its pioneering spirit did not stop at football. The club was the first in the city to have an Olympic pool, and in 1929 it organised Brazil's first women's athletics competition, a decision ahead of its time that the sporting world would take decades to make ordinary.

Today, more than one hundred and twenty years after its founding, Pinheiros remains the kind of institution that organises the week of those who live nearby: swimming in the morning, tennis in the late afternoon, family gatherings on Saturdays.
Having a club with this historical depth a few minutes from home is not a brochure detail. It is daily life resolved, generation after generation, at the same address.
